I am a true dark & spiced rum drinker, and recently quit drinking, as I don't care to get a buzz nor hangovers any more, but I just love the taste of certain rums. So I was really looking forward to finding a product that was 70-80% close to a decent rum.
This product unfortunately was not great as a rum. It tasked more like a very weak watered down bad tasting whiskey, but also had hints of all the bad smelling crap that I would throw out from the distiller after making my own rum/shine.
Perhaps a whiskey drinker (which I am not) might enjoy this as a weak drink (or for mixing), and might give it a 3 out of 5..!?
After adding vanilla and some flavoured rum spices that I have for when I would make my own rum shine, it did improve the taste a fair bit, but it still tasted more like a weak whiskey to me.
After reading several reviews about this product, one of which ranked it #1 out of all the other non-alcoholic rums, I was so hopeful... But I am left extremely disappointed. I so hoped that I would taste like rum and that I'd like it just a little bit, and could give it 4 stars, but unfortunately it doesn't taste like rum. Even if it tasted like a slightly weak bad rum, I could have lived with that and would probably want to buy more of this product.
