Dhos Vodka Free Review
A vodka alternative with an actual point of view. Rare thing.
I poured the Dhos Vodka Free braced for flavoured water.
Then the finish bit back, and I sat up.

First Impressions
Dhos keeps it clean and grown-up. The bottle is minimal and modern, the kind of clear glass that looks at home on a real bar cart rather than a novelty shelf. Pour it neat and it runs crystal clear, exactly like the vodka it is standing in for. No tricks, no strange tint.
Bring it to your nose and it is more interesting than a vodka has any right to be. Wild blueberry and crisp green apple lead, with a cool earthy note sitting underneath. It smells fresh and faintly wild, like a garden after rain. This one comes from a small maker in Oregon, and you can tell someone cared.
How it actually tastes
The first sip is where Dhos separates itself from the pack. The body is genuinely textured, with a moderate richness that coats the tongue instead of vanishing like flavoured water. Blueberry and apple carry the front, clean and bright, and then the finish arrives with a real punch. There is a peppery, horseradish-style heat that rolls in late and mimics the burn of actual vodka. That heat is the whole trick!
What makes it work is restraint. It never turns sweet or syrupy, the earthy note keeps it dry, and that spicy finish hands your mixed drinks a backbone most alcohol-free vodkas just do not have. Over ice it keeps its shape and its bite from the first sip to the last.
The best drink to make with it
Make a Vodka-Free Moscow Mule and let that finish do the work. Two ounces of Dhos over a mug packed with ice, top with a good spicy ginger beer, squeeze in half a lime and drop the shell in. The horseradish bite in the Dhos and the ginger heat lock together and give you the grown-up, sinus-clearing kick a real Mule is all about. Serve it in a copper mug if you have one, cold enough to sweat. It also builds a seriously good Espresso Martini, where the earthy body stands up to the coffee instead of getting buried. Two drinks, one bottle, zero hangover!
Things we like
A textured, weighty body where most alcohol-free vodkas drink like water.
A genuine horseradish-style bite on the finish that mimics real vodka heat.
A fresh, characterful nose of wild blueberry, green apple and cool earth.
Crystal clear and clean, a proper base for Mules, Mojitos and Espresso Martinis.
Under 0.5% alcohol, made by a small Oregon craft producer, so the ritual stays and the morning stays clear!

Frequently asked questions
Does it actually taste like vodka?
It nails the part that matters: the clean, neutral body and the peppery heat on the finish. Vodka is more about texture and burn than flavour, and Dhos recreates both without the alcohol. Sip it neat and that horseradish kick is a genuine surprise.
Should I drink it neat or mixed?
Mixed, every time. Vodka is a base spirit, and Dhos is built to disappear into a drink and leave its texture and bite behind. A Mule, a Mojito, or an Espresso Martini all show it off far better than a neat pour.
How much alcohol does it contain?
Less than 0.5% ABV, the standard for the non-alcoholic spirits we carry. It is not a true 0.0, so if you avoid alcohol entirely for medical or personal reasons, keep that in mind.
